Social – July 2023

I hope you have enjoyed our events thus far. You may have noticed that we are trying to include some vegetarian options in the mix.

Big thank you to Nick Mates and crew for arranging a very successful Beach Party! The weather was perfect for the evening.

Food was catered by City Barbecue the Whole Hog did not disappoint.

Our next event is Labor Day Kickoff. Please note this event will be on Saturday evening the weekend of Labor Day in hopes to allow for extra time on the water! We will have a DJ so put on your dancing shoes! The club will provide the main course and beverages and we ask that attendees bring a dish to share in true pitch-in fashion.

We are also beginning our planning for the annual Lobster Fest. We have been able to keep the cost to members down in the past, however with the rise in cost of both Lobsters and Steak, we may need to increase the cost this year. Stay tuned for more information.

It is hard to believe that it is June already!

Big thank you to David and Anne Marie Knapp for hosting Memorial Day. The DJ has several people shaking their groove thing into the night. The Orndorff’s hosted Father’s Day again and we enjoyed a Bloody Mary Bar along with some fabulous sides! Tony Rice always does a great job on the grill!

The club will provide the main course and beverages for social events. We ask that attendees bring a dish to share in true pitch-in fashion.

We are still looking for Host/Hostesses for Kid’s Day, Labor Day, and the Chili Cookoff. Please reach out if you are interested in earning some work credits and helping with any of the social events.

Thank you for all who attended the Mother’s Day Brunch! A big shout out to Les and Amy Miller for hosting! They continue to contribute volunteer hours to the club supporting multiple committees. This is what makes ECSC such a great place to sail and socialize. We are looking forward to kicking off Memorial Day weekend with our kickoff event on Saturday evening, May 27th. Along with our typical pitch in, we will have a DJ so make sure to wear your dancing shoes!!

The club will provide the main course and beverages for social events. We ask that attendees bring a dish to share in true pitch-in fashion.

We have already had several requests to reserve the upper shelter. When planning an event at the club, please take into consideration that we are on a septic tank and have limited parking. Having guests carpool is ideal. We do require a $250 deposit that is refundable or applied to assessed damages. Please submit your requests to the Commadore for approval.

Although the weather is still a bit chilly, spring is in the air. Jennifer and I have been planning our season of events and are getting ready to call on members to step up and assist with the programs we have planned. Work credits are available for the hours put into volunteering. These work credits convert to $$ off you next season membership.

Thank you to all who attended the Kids Day and Beach Party! Jennifer Curtis made the Kids Fun Day a blast for young and old alike! She knows how to bring the kid out in all of us. A special thanks to Tammy Ray for bringing out her petting zoo! Per usual, Nick and Jackie know how to put on a great party!! Their crew worked tirelessly setting up and cleaning up so give them a big shout when you see them as well (the Goff, Newgent, Weir, Orndorff, Hollingsworth, and the Newgent teams). It is not too late to purchase a Beach Party t-shirt! Contact Nick Mates for details. Check out our facebook page for pictures of all the fun. If you are looking to earn work credits for cash off of next year’s membership, then please consider volunteering to be a host/hostess for the Labor Day event. We are still seeking volunteers to spearhead this celebration. Thank you to all who attended the Father’s Day Brunch! Karen and Kenneth Orndorff put on a great event full with a beautiful Bloody Mary Bar! Thank you again Tony Rice for your masterful grilling skills. We are in the planning stages of the July 2nd Kids Day designed to provide some fun activities for kids of all ages to start the holiday weekend off. Stay tuned for more details! Our Mother’s Day event was a great success! Thank you, Amy and Les Miller, for hosting and Susan Tennant for volunteering to help! And, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank our grill master, Tony Rice, for always serving up a good batch of eggs! It was great to see everyone again. We served approximately 75 people and the pavilion was alive with chatter and laughter. I do hope our club mothers enjoyed the beautiful day. We will be kicking off Memorial Day weekend by celebrating on SATURDAY EVENING, May 28th. This will be a pitch-in like the good ole days! Please remember that our four-legged friends should not be present during events in the pavilion. As mentioned in the last newsletter, we have a calendar full of fun and are seeking volunteers to host and help with our events. If you have an interest in supporting social events, please let us know. You will earn work credits that convert to cash off next year’s dues! Our immediate need is for our Memorial Day Celebrations.
