Commodore September 2020

Welcome to Fall at the Eagle Creek Sailing Club!  This is one of my favorite times of year here at the club - it's time to get out your sweaters and sail! I love the changing leaves and  crisp fall winds and the sunsets have been particularly amazing of late. Thank you to all of the members who came out to sail in the Indy 200 Regatta.  This was one of the largest regattas we have had on the lake in some time!  I would especially like to thank the new members who participated.  We had a great turnout last weekend for the Governor's Cup as well.  It was a single-handed race, which was somewhat of a challenge to those of us who regularly depend on our crew to make us go fast. Finally, due to uncertainty regarding the Final Bash, the Board is putting together a plan to have our Annual Meeting here at the club on October 10th at 6:30pm. We will have a ballot box available for those who want to vote in person for the incoming Board and we are hoping to have a food truck and musical entertainment.  Social distancing measures will still be in place, but hopefully you will feel comfortable coming out and  catching up with other members you haven't seen all year.  Stay tuned for more details of this event to be announced soon. Happy Sailing! Nan Wishart Commodore

Social September 2020

I can not believe our season is nearly over!  I have missed all your smiling faces and warm interactions this summer, as well as serving you all during our social events.  We were on the verge of holding our beach party with a food truck when the COVID-19 numbers started to rise again.  This caused us to take pause and again, put our club members' safety as a priority.

As of now, we are planning on having food trucks at the club on October 10th from 5:00 to 7:00 following the Hornback Regatta.  Once we identify which trucks will be at the club, we will let you all know.

We received your responses from the Final Bash survey and will hopefully have more details soon if we are going to host the event.

Be Safe,

Vickie Greenough, Social Chair

Harbormaster September 2020

It looks like the ramp project is going to take place in October and will be complete by the end of October. I will need 6 to 8 boats on the beginning of A-dock to move their boats to open slips on various docks. If the spot has no mooring lines then that generally means it's an open slip. Or I have a list of open slips, so contact me if you need me to find one for you. No one is required to pull out early, but if you normally pull out before November then think about doing it before the project begins. With this in mind I would like to get all boats off the beach to allow room for parking along the beach road. They can be trailer parked and down by the beach ramp. Compliance with these suggestions will greatly improve the timeline of this one time event.

Racing September 2020

Racers, We finally got two regattas in this year!!! The Indy 500 and the Governor’s Cup were very successful…… Thank you Rich Fox and Geoff Endris for running these two events!!!! We have one last event, the Hornback which is on Oct. 10. This will be run by Charlie Brehob, and we thank him in advance for volunteering to take this on. How many boats will we have for this event? Let’s make this another huge success story!!!! The new schedule will look like: Hornback - Oct. 10 Just because we are not racing, does not mean you can’t be out sailing…. Get those boats in the water and practice!!! Practice, practice, and practice…… 😊 If I can be of assistance in anyway, just let me know. Talk to you soon, Marcus Rogers Racing Chair

Safety and Education September 2020

A tip of my hat, to EJ this past month. He organized racing on our FJ fleet and the single handed Laser fleet.

The juniors are back at school. Sam is doing his thing in hockey and Olivia is recovering from a accident and out for the year.

I be glad when 2020 is replaced with 2021!
